    1. The objective of the Slave Name Roll Project is to develop a repository of source documents and references about named slaves so that descendants may break through the brick wall that is often the 1870 census. We are volunteers and do not have the bandwidth to assist people who are looking for ancestors who were enslaved.

  3. I found the names of 30 enslaved individuals who were held by my family in Sampson County, North Carolina. I have first names from two Wills--1850 and 1856. The surname of the owners was Rich. I would like to help anyone trying to find their enslaved ancestors.
