Philemon Lacy, Sr. died intestate in Chatham County, N. Carolina in 1809, leaving nine children, three sons and six daughters. His wife's name was Anne. The account papers of his estate settlement give the following. All sales took place December 5, 1809.
Sold to Anne Lacy (probably his wife): 1 Negro man Harry.
Sold to Philemon Lacy (his son): 1 Negro man Ned.
Sold to Jesse West (his on-in-law, husband of his daughter Sarah/Sally): 1 Negro girl Alley.
Sold to Thomas Snipes, Esq.: 1 Negro woman Cate.
Sold to Thomas Steele(?): 1 Negro man Cesar.
